Overview
Ping Legacy ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our application.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data. The App operates entirely on your local device and does not transmit any personal information to external servers.
Information Stored Locally
The App stores the following data locally on your device:
- Ping History: Records of your ping sessions including target hosts, timestamps, and results
- Settings: Your preferences such as theme selection and notification settings
- Favorites: Your saved favorite hosts for quick access
- Scheduled Tasks: Your configured scheduled ping tasks
This data is stored locally using SQLite database and Windows settings storage. It never leaves your device.
Network Requests
The App makes the following network requests:
- ICMP Ping: Sends ping requests to hosts you specify
- DNS Lookup: Resolves hostnames using your system's DNS
- Public IP: Fetches your public IP from ip-api.com (optional)
- Speed Test: Downloads/uploads test data to measure connection speed
- Traceroute: Traces network path to specified hosts
- Port Scan: Checks port connectivity on hosts you specify
These requests are initiated only when you explicitly use these features.
Third-Party Services
The App uses minimal third-party services:
- ip-api.com: Used to fetch your public IP address (no personal data sent)
- Speed test servers: Used for measuring internet speed
Data Retention
History data is automatically deleted based on your configured retention period (default: 15 days). You can also manually clear all data at any time through the Settings page.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
